2002 Update Journal

December 26th, 2002

Hawk made up an exquisite batch of Solstice Soma Tea gathered during our latest trip and specially prepared in a full moon Solstice ceremony. He's been taking a smooth ride to ecstacy all day! If you don't think collecting mushrooms is an adventure, we tried to begin our journey at 10:00am only to find ourselves in a snow storm! In California! No prob, buy chains, we're set.

Not quite. After inching along behind big trucks on a snowy freeway for 2 hours to go 10 miles barely escaping collision with oncoming traffic and sliding off the road ourselves, we discover 3 big rigs have crashed and traffic will be stopped at least 4 hours, we turn back and head out again at 11pm and then drove with great care in a snow storm to pick Solstice Soma. Was it worth it? See pics :)

Santa Soma Santa's elves have been busy even though its been dry, so we found some excellent Muscaria during the past weekend's foray. We've only been able to collect about 1/4th of our usual haul but we are thankful for every single one:)

Climatic changes have affected our supply and we expect to be searching other areas and collecting during different times of the year. Eventually we want to travel the world for Soma.

We recently acquired some tasty smoked South African dried Muscaria which we've enjoyed taking. I even crumbled some into my special herbal smoking blend--nummy. We are definitely interested in trying Soma from everywhere!

Oh happy days! The bright shining ones have returned, Praise God for sending us precious Soma.

We're having the time of our lives picking super-great mushrooms. Only the strongest and most beautiful have managed to grow in these unusually dry conditions, so we've been finding some extra special flowers of the garden of Heaven.

We rescued some babies from a slug rampage and tended them for several days until they grew to maturity. We love being able to watch them grow and care for each one until they're ready.

We also took some photos, some of which will appear in our book.

We just returned from our first Muscaria expedition of the year and are sipping fresh Heavenly Tonic. We were down to stale dried panthers and after a five hour drive we discovered our first patch was still empty. One lone sentinel graced the side of the freeway and it was too dangerous to get him, then.

The second patch was obliterated from the effects of logging. No longer will Soma greet us from this place.

We next discovered that one of our favorites, the Indra spot, had been mowed down and someone carelessly weed whacked a huge clan of Muscaria to shredded bits. This wonderful spot yields unseasonal treats, (just when we really need the magic!)

Hawk rescued the traumatized Soma and did a special ceremony to re- harmonize them and then brewed up a humoungus kettle of mushroom tea beneath the glow of a half moon.

The first Amanita Muscaria of the year is like meeting up with favorite friends and family and the joy, happiness and strength you gather from their presence.

But, once again, it looks like the Spirit of Soma is trying to lead us away from our old hunting grounds and on to other adventures. We are ready for a change and are open to options so if anyone knows any good patches for us to tend, let us know:)

By the way, Hawk picked the sentinel on the way south. He hopped out of the van, dodged logging trucks and traffic... faster than a speeding pantherina...he's Soma man!

Greetings from Somadise.

Hooray! It's finally raining and I can almost smell the earthy scent of fresh Muscaria. Soon we'll be blessed with the company of Angels and will commune with the Spirits of Heaven.

Hawk has just completed an eight day fast (along with his every-other -day routine.) He's doing great and getting psyched to go on a mushroom hunt.

It's been a long time (5 months:() since we've had luscious fresh Amanita Muscaria. We're definitely ready for adventure and can't wait to rev up our Soma chi with an infusion of Heaven's best:)

Hail Soma!

Our three year road trip-mushroom expedition in the Pacific Northwest has finally ended. Right now we're at a lakeside retreat in Northern California, enjoying the warm Autumn sun.

We're still collecting Amanita Pantherina every two to three weeks when we travel the 250 mile trip north to our coastal patches.

It's the second phase of our journey. We've been putting a book about our Shamanic use of Soma together and are busy typing up chapters and doing visionary artwork. Stay tuned!

Howdy. Picking brown and yellow Pantheria in northern California. Having moon festival parties every night. Staying high with the sky.

We took several pictures on our friend's webcam! Notice a bottle of our favorite brew, Nectar of Heaven, which contains some of Hawk's special herbs, vitamins and minerals in Pantheria Soma ambrosia. The herbs and minerals are the secret of the inner stability, fine taste and great high of this ambrosia, and why it posesses no danger to the user.

Also, there are some of our hand-crafted Soma spirit sticks. We made them using some of the gifts of nature that we've collected on our travels, such as pieces of abalone and driftwood from ancient redwood forests. Each spirit stick is blessed with Soma energy and infused with the power of the sun, sea, wind, moon and rivers of the Pacific Northwest. Each one is part of our own incredible journey of 68,000 over three years driven through the windy coastal and mountain roads to the nooks and crannies of our spiritual power spots.

Each piece of abalone is found by hiking down tretcherous cliffs to secluded coves. Hawk has endured high winds and downpour rains in the Winter months -- while fasting -- to get these exquisite shells. We use our spirit sticks to cleanse an area of hostile/negative vibrations, for spiritual protection and they can be used to call upon your spirit guides and send your prayers straight to heaven.

Let us know what you think!
